Erik and Dawn asked the surgeon to intervene for them in trying to get an appointment with Dr. Hurley, the orthopedic surgeon. They were told that Dr. Hurley was booked for September and the October calendar was opening tomorrow.
Well, this was not acceptable for Erik and Dawn!!
Erik and Dawn went to Member Services and filed a grievance. Erik and Dawn told them that if Kaiser was not able to provide the services needed by Analise then they would need to pay for another provider outside of Kaiser to see her.
Long story short... on their way home, Erik and Dawn received a call from Kaiser to let them know Analise had an appointment scheduled for this Tuesday at 9am with Dr. Hurley, the orthopedic surgeon. Great job, Mommy and Daddy advocating for Analise!!
Erik and Dawn were told that Dr. Hurley is one of the only orthopedic surgeons from Kaiser in California that sees children with Arthrogryposis, and she also sees children referred by CCS.
Analise weighed in today at 7 lbs 4.3 oz, so there may just be a discrepancy between the different scales she is being weighed on.
Analise still has her appointment with the geneticist and the neonatologist next Thursday.
We are praying that Analise will be scheduled to be seen at the arthrogryposis clinic at Shriners Hospital on September 15th. Just waiting for their call. Let's keep that on our prayer list!!
Erik will still be off work until September 16th using his sick days, and Dawn will be off work at least until November, at a reduced salary.
Here we go again, more doctor appointments, but I'm trying to make the best of it!! My scar doesn't look that bad after all!! |
Long day at Kaiser, can I sleep now?!?! |
