Bye Bye IV's and oxygen...I'm done with all that stuff!!

I'm done with all that stuff!!  Yeah!!
No more poking for Sweet Analise!!  The IV's are off, and the nasal cannula (oxygen in the nose) is also gone.  Analise's breathing, heart rate, and oxygen level are still being monitored.

Analise's appetite has improved and she is tolerating up to 60 cc's of breast milk in most of her feedings.  She still has the nasogastric tube (tube from the nose to the stomach) for now.

Analise cries when she is hungry, falls asleep during feedings, and burps well...just like her brother Kyle ;-)  Dawn is hopeful that she will be able to breastfeed Analise in the next couple of days, God willing.

According to Erik, Analise's eyes appear to be "bluish" in color, but it's too early to tell yet.

Erik and Dawn have helped change the colostomy bag two times already.  They will be experts in no time!!  The stoma (the opening from the colon to the skin) appears to have become larger in the last couple of days and the surgeons are keeping an eye on it.  Erik and Dawn were told that as long as it is still getting good circulation, they are not concerned at this time but they will continue to monitor it. Let's pray no additional surgery is needed!!

The orthopedic evaluation has not occurred yet, but they expect it will be done Monday or Tuesday.  Erik and Dawn were told that there is a Pediatric Orthopedic Surgeon in Fontana that has a special interest in Amyoplasia and Arthrogryposis. They are hoping to set up an appointment with this specialist when Analise is discharged.  Still no news of when Sweet Analise will be released from the hospital.

Erik and Dawn have been working on Analise's range of motion exercises and were able to bend her arm at the elbow easily, enough to allow her to reach her lips with her fingers!! (see photos)

Today, Sweet Analise had more of her immediate family visit her (she is loved so much!!!):
Mommy, Analise, and Great Grandma Thelma
  • Dawn's Grandmother, Thelma, was able to visit with her great-granddaughter.
  • Grandma Annette and Grandpa John (Dawn's Mother and Step-Dad) also visited.  Grandma Annette was able to feed Analise and also helped with the exercises.
  • Uncle Jim (Dawn's brother) and Auntie Valerie (Dawn's step-sister) also were able to visit with their niece.
  • Grandpa Ed and Grandma Sandy (Erik's Father and Step-Mom) also visited with Erik and Dawn.
After the visits, the family went to dinner at Fred 62 for a much deserved relaxed dinner outside the hospital.
The fashion show will be starting now that Analise isn't attached to so many tubes!!

    Yum, those fingers taste good!!

Ahhh moment with Mommy and Grandma Annette
Gazing lovingly at Mommy...I'm so lucky to have such a great Mommy!!
