We are home now after visiting with Sweet Analise, Erik and Dawn.

Erik's  87-year-old Grandmother, Abuela was able to caress her 24th great grandchild and visit with her a little bit.  What joy that brought her!!  She said Analise looks like a beautiful little porcelain doll.  Erik was glad Abuela fought back her tears of joy because he knew that if she started crying it would get everyone crying!!

Kaley, Kyle, and Kassandra also were able to kiss their baby sister and help her with her exercises.
Kyle was a little bit "grossed out" by the colostomy bag, but he will get used to it.  On the way home, Kaley, Kyle, and Kassandra were saying they will volunteer to change "only" the regular diapers during the next couple of months, since they know they will not have any poop.  ;-)

When Erik and Dawn were kicked out tonight from the NICU at the usual time, 6:30pm (NICU is closed to everyone from 6:30-8:30 am and pm during shift changes), we all were able to relax a bit and enjoy dinner at a nice family style Italian restaurant right down the street from the hospital.  Erik and Dawn decided to bring back some food for the nurse that is taking care of Analise.  They want to make sure that Analise gets the best care possible. ;-)

After dinner, it was 8:30, and guess what that means...Erik and Dawn can go back to see their sweet little angel.  Erik and Dawn's usual daily schedule starts by getting to the hospital by 8:30 am, as soon as they are able to go into the NICU, spend as much time as they can with Analise throughout the day, then they end their day at midnight, when they go back to Ronald McDonald House.  Erik said that this way they only miss feeding Analise 2 times during the day, which is when they are trying to get some sleep.

Erik and Dawn are really impressed with the hospitality they are receiving at the Ronald McDonald House, which is run mostly by volunteers.  They have already said that they will be volunteering there once things with Analise settle down.

Dawn may possibly be able to breastfeed Analise tomorrow depending on how she is doing.  They are still waiting for the orthopedic surgeon's evaluation, and a few more tests.

We can't wait to see some pictures of Sweet Analise wearing the outfits we brought from her closet!!

  1. Thank you Mom, Rich, and family (our friends are included with family). We are so grateful for everything being done for our family through this blog. The blogs written by my mom and Rich are incredible. Analise is already so loved and she is doing such a great job bringing everyone together. She will be a great party planner. We wish we could talk/text with everyone but our free time is usually when everyone is sleeping. We also want to thank everyone who has donated. If we could give it back we would, but we don't think you would let us. We are incredibly lucky to have you all. It will be a long process, but we will get through it and Analise will SUCCEED! We won't let her fail. Kisses and hugs to everyone,
