We just spoke with Erik. He clarified that the problem with the colostomy is a colostomy prolapse, where more of the colon works its way out of the stoma (opening). Erik said that he and Dawn are still concerned about the prolapse, and want to make sure it is stable with no further problems before Analise is discharged. He said that they are scheduled to meet with the colostomy expert tomorrow to continue to learn how to take care of the colostomy, in preparation for discharge.
The orthopedic evaluation is still pending. Erik and Dawn are hopeful this happens before Analise is discharged.
Let's get the prayers going again so that Analise has a full orthopedic evaluation before going home.
The occupational therapist is also scheduled to see Analise tomorrow. Erik and Dawn are a little concerned that the wrists and ankles seem a little more stiff than they have been in the past few days.
Grandpa Richard and I (Abuelita) plan on spending the day with them tomorrow and will start the application process for Shriner's Hospital, so that Analise may be accepted by the Shriner's Hospital for evaluation and treatment for the Amyoplasia with Arthrogryposis.
Erik told me that the nurses in the NICU are very hard working and caring nurses. Erik and Dawn brought them some pizzas, drinks, and cake today and they were all very appreciative. Well fed nurses are happy, helpful nurses and we are so grateful for the excellent nursing care that our Sweet Analise is receiving!! ;-)

Auntie Victoria, Mommy, and Analise |
Today, Victoria (Dawn's sister) and her husband Andrew visited with Erik and Dawn and their niece Analise. Auntie Victoria was able to hold Analise and they both helped with Analise's exercises.
