I loved a comment made to me today by my sister-in-law Anaivett regarding the nurses' comments about Analise being "feisty":
"Feisty is good, lots of feisty women in the family." ;-)
Auntie Monika (Erik's sister and our daughter) also said that "feistiness will help Analise get through this!!"
Erik and Dawn decided to go to the Ronald McDonald House this afternoon for a few hours to take a well deserved nap, since Analise was still sleeping and they could not hold her or touch her.
Many of you are worried that Analise is not eating or receiving nutrients. Erik wants you all to know that she is being fed through her IV with protein, glucose, electrolytes, and more. Does she look like she is starving ;-) ? See today's picture.
Erik and Dawn were told that Analise will start to wake up tomorrow and may start crying because, even though she is receiving nutrition, she does have not Mommy's milk in her stomach.
Analise is still intubated and they may start weaning her off the respirator tomorrow. The respiratory therapist, whose grandfather was Cuban (according to Erik), was very kind to Erik and Dawn and explained that they want to wean Analise off the respirator slowly to allow her to breathe on her own safely.
Day 12: When I wake up, I am going to be hungry!! |
Good morning everyone. Analise is doing well recovering from the surgery. She is just starting to open up her eyes a little. My mom fixed the comments section, so it should be a little easier to comment. Have a great day and thanks for all the positive energy coming Analise's way.
